No prior visa is required to enter the Maldives and entry permits of 30 days from the date of arrival will be granted on arrival. Should you require an extension to the 30 days, it can be applied directly at the Department of Immigration.

However an entry permit does not permit visitors to take up employment, set up any business or conduct any professional activities (paid or unpaid) except with the consent of the government and in compliance with pertinent laws and regulations of the Maldives.

Important Notice: Maldivian law prohibits the import of alcoholic beverages, pornographic materials, weapons, ammunition, explosives and idols of worship. Strict penalties will be charge to people who attempt to import drugs. It is also not allowed to export turtle shells, black coral and other protected species and products made out of such species.
